23/8 2011 The tank has been running with water, substrate and filter for a couple of days, and now the newly acquired roots, along with a few smaller from previous setups, are put in place. |

5/9 2011 8 Geophagus sp. "Tapajos redhead" have been selected from the school of 14, which have been waiting for their "real" home in Akv. 10. Note the layer of algae already growing on the roots! ![]() |
7/9 2011 New fish: 6 Chaetostoma nudirostre, which hopefully will be good at keeping the algae at bay. |
22/9 2011 More plants. The aquisition of plants for Akv. 10 has by far exceeded the actual capacity of the tank, so the surplus has temporarily been placed here. |

4/10 20112 Crossocheilus reticulatus are introduced to the tank as yet another attempt to get rid of the algae The 6 Chaetostoma nudirostre have had no effect whatsoever on the algae in this tank. |
7/10 2011 Something seems to be askew in the tank. All Geophagus are assembled in front of the filter exhaust, as if the rest of the water is of poor quality? Their gills are moving a little faster than normal, but no signs of real oxygen deficiency is apparent. None of the other fish in the tank appear to be affected. |
8/10 2011 The Geophagus group is apparently struck by some kind of illness. They are all more or less covered in something that resembles Ich, but with smaller spots. It does not look like Oodinium. Unfortunately I can not get any medication until Monday. |
10/10 2011 Treatment with eSHa EXIT commenced today. The fish does not look too well, and atleast one of them seems to be beyond help. A thorough check of the other species in the tank, reveals that only the Geophagus are affected. |
11/10 2011 One fish is dead, and two more are probably going the same way. |
12/10 2011 Two more fish are dead. The remaining looks pretty bad, but not like they are dying. |
16/10 2011 One more fish is dead. Realising that the treatment has failed, and that the group are reduced to three individuals, of which further losses seems likely, I have opted to remove the remaining, to be put down. None of the other fish show any signs of illness. |
2/11 2011 New fish: Trichogaster leeri. |
15/11 2011 New fish: 10 new Rasbora kalochroma + 6 transferred from Akv. 10 |
