Tanganyika aquarium.
The seup is brand-new. The decoration is Back-to-Nature modules, glued
to the back-glass and bottom. The bushes are Cryptocoryne wendtii
that was planted in flat bowls, camouflaged by heaps of rubble.
The fish are Tropheus sp. "black"
(Bemba) |

The tank has matured, with a decent growth of plants and algae. More
rocks have been added, to provide some protection for newly released fry. |

Tanganyika aquarium.
The fish are Tropheus sp. "black" (Kiriza) and
Tropheus moorii (mpulungu).
As evident, every rock is almost completely free of green algae, a sure sign
of a setup that is fairly new. The
decoration offers ample opportunities for fry to hide in, and a lot of
juveniles grow up in the tank. This has a disadvantage built in; every
now and then, the whole decoration has to be removed, in order to cull
the stock. |

Geophagus aquarium.
Totally fresh setup, so the plants are a mess, the leaves not even
turned towards the light. Alle rocks have been removed, and replaced
with a couple of roots.
The fish are Young Geophagus altifrons. |

Geophagus aquarium.
The first attempt at decoration was less than satisfying, so a
couple og large roots was acquired, and placed, sp that they sort of
draw a line through the tank. This has no practical importance, but adds
to the visual pleasure of viewing the tank. |

Geophagus aquarium.
The plants are not doing too well, but a little growth has started. A
good deal of hair algae has settled on top of the roots. The
Geophagus altifrons are now accompanied by a school of Hemigrammus bleheri. |
